When we were engaged to create a virtual tour of The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, the allure of capturing a five-star luxury oasis embraced by a 100-million-year-old forest and spectacular sea, enticed us greatly.

The island's lush vegetation is intricately woven into every element of the resort: plush villas cloaked by majestic views, an award-winning overwater spa pavilion serenaded by crashing waves, a private beach with heart-melting sunsets, and tropical-inspired facilities that promise utmost serenity.

That is the magic of the rainforest paradise - and what we wanted the virtual tour to embody.

Embracing the Extraordinary in 360°

With glass walls, generous balconies and private pools, the beauty of the great outdoors spills naturally into the suites and villas at the hotel. Its elegant interiors feature a touch of classic Malaysian-inspired decor, while the oversized marble bathrooms tempt guests with indulgent amenities. The villas welcome either the jungle, beach or Andaman ocean views with open arms.

To us, visuals should tell the whole story in a glance. By framing our 360° panoramas in the best possible angles, we are able to capture the extraordinary in our photography.

In Villa Kenari, for instance, we employed a visual layering technique by opening the sections and strategising the furniture placement. Stretching out the room gives a sense of depth while highlighting its opulent living spaces and multiple ocean viewpoints. We ensured both the indoors and outdoors are sharp with no overexposure and accurate colours.

For The Ritz-Carlton Spa, we went for a rarely-chosen perspective whereby the panorama was captured with a drone that looks upon the six overwater spa pavilions. The hotel had also arranged for two models to pose for a massage session. The bubu fishing-inspired architecture, pristine sea, and a glimpse of the spa treatment are all purposefully displayed in one sweeping glance.

Chasing the Golden Hours

For each day our photography team was at the hotel, we were practically chasing sunsets and sunrises. We meticulously ensured that the right areas are covered at the right times, in its most stunning lighting.

This happened in abundance at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi. For the opening aerial view, we deployed our drone several times we were at there, just so that we can select the beachfront resort at its peak, draped by a breathtaking sunset.

A Curated Premium Experience

The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi offers a kaleidescope of beachfront and resort activities. We illustrated these with 360° videos, allowing potential customers to experience kayaking on a sun-kissed ocean, enjoying yoga, choosing food at the breakfast buffet, and chilling at the bar, before they step foot into the resort.

We were impressed by the flawless hospitality of the staff, whom we worked closely with to showcase some of the typical scenes one can expect at the hotel. Just as they craft personalised itineraries for their hotel guests, we did the same with our services.

Since its completion, the virtual tour has been used to share about the resort's event spaces and experiences to potential leads while reducing travelling expenses and fuel consumption.
